"Things happen for a reason." Have you ever said or thought that, my "walking with Jesus" friend? If you or I have said or thought that, we are in good company. That is EXACTLY what the Apostle Paul is saying, as he continues his first letter to the Corinthians. The REASON, in this case, is given as a WARNING! See what YOU think."I do not want you to forget, dear brothers and sisters, what happened to our ancestors in the wilderness long ago. God guided all of them in the day by sending a cloud that moved along ahead of them. And He brought them all safely through the waters of the sea on dry ground. As followers of Moses, they were all baptized in the cloud and in the sea. And all of them are manna from Heaven and drank water from the Rock. That Rock was Christ. Yet, after all these miracles and blessings, they built and worshipped an idol. SO, God was not pleased with them. And that whole generation perished in the wilderness. This happened to WARN US NOT to...

Good Morning my "walking with Jesus" friend. Some clear counsel from Isaiah 55:6-7, "Seek the Lord while He may be found, Call upon Him while He is near, Let those who are wicked trurn away from their wicked ways and their unrighteous thoughts, And let them RETURN unto the LORD, and He will have mercy on them and abundantly pardon them." Oh my friend, may we always be seeking the LORD, and HIS way. To respond to this text message, reply to this email or visit Google Voice. Let's summarize the rest of 1 Corinthians 9, my "walking with Jesus" friend. Paul declares that he is respectful of other view points, but is careful to present the Gospel of Christ in all possible situations. Paul testifies:" I try to find common ground with everyone so that I may bring them to Christ. ...Remember, in a race, everyone runs, but only one person gets the prize. You and I must run the race of life so that we WIN. When you think of athletic champions, we see that they practice strict self-discipline. THEY do it for a prize that will fade away. But WE discipline ourselves for an Eternal Prize that will never fade away. So, be like me, says Paul, I am straight for the prize. I discipline my body and my life like a champion athlete, so that I will surely remain strong and focused, pleasing to the Lord, and a worthy example for all of you, dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ."(1 Corinthians 9:22-27)By self discipline and determination, Paul has set a s...

It's Sunday. Let's "...worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness."(Psalm 29:2b) Psalm 95:6-7, invites:"I come, let us worship and bow down, let us kneel before the Lord, our God, our Maker. For He is our God and we are the people of His pasture and the sheep of His hand...her His voice." And Jesus says, "My sheep hear My voice, and they follow Me, and I give them Eternal Life and no man can pluck them out of My hand."(John 10:27-28) My friend, I think we can agree that we hear the Master best, when we truly LISTEN. Asking, my "walking with Jesus" friend, what are you going to do today? And recommending the choices counselled in Psalm 100: "Make a Joyful noise unto the Lord, everyone, Serve the Lord with gladness. Come before His Presence with singing. Know that the LORD, He is God, it is He who has made us, and not we ourselves. Enter His gates with Thanksgiving and into His courts with praise. Be thankful unto Him and bless His name. For the Lord is good, His mercy is everlasting and His truth endures to all generations."(Psalm 100, all five verses) In how MANY ways will we praise the Lord today, my friend? Have you ever felt the need to defend yourself and your position, my "walking with Jesus" friend? Paul felt that need. In 1 Corinthians 9:1-10, Paul writes:"This is my answer to those who question my authority as an apostle: Haven't I seen our Lord Jesus Christ with my own eyes? Isn't it because of my hard work that you are in the Lord? Even if there are some who think I am not an apostle, I certainly am to you, for by your strong faith you provide living proof that I am an apostle of the Lord. It is proper for me to stay in your homes and share your meals. It is proper for the others who labor with me to bring along their wives as the Lord's brothers and Peter do. It isn't just Barnabas and me who work to support ourselves. I ask you, what soldier has to pay his own expenses? And, have you ever heard of a farmer who harvests his crop but does not have the right to eat some of it? The law of Moses says:"Do not keep the ox from eating as it treads ou...

Well, my "walking with Jesus"friend, what else will The Apostle write about to the Corinthians? Here in 1 Corinthians 8:4-6, Paul emphasizes basic Gospel Truth: "...we all know that an idol is not really a God. And, we know that some people think there are many so-called gods and many Lord's both in heaven and on earth. How sad that they have been misled. While WE are blessed to be absolutely certain that there is ONLY ONE GOD. He is our Heavenly Father, who created everything. Yes, we exist for Him. And there is only ONE Lord, our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom God made everything and through whom ONLY we are given Eternal Life." To keep the basics of our Faith in God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, in focus is wise and wonderfully prospers the soul. Now that we clearly understand what God, through His Word, has to say about idols, we will move on into chapter 8 of 1Corinthians. Hi, my "walking with Jesus" friend. In ancient Corinth, the people who worshipped idols gave sacrifices. If meat, vegetables, fruit and grain to their idols, thinking to please that idol and gain favor. ( Yes, that defies logic. A silver, gold or wooden idol made by man has zero power...) Anyway, here is what Paul wrote:" Now let's talk about food that has been offered as a sacrifice to idols. You think that everyone should agree with what you think is your perfect knowledge. While knowledge may make us feel important, it is LOVE for each other that really builds up the church. Anyone who claims to know all the answers doesn't really know very much. But, the person who loves God and others, is the one to whom God shows favor. So now, what about it? Should we eat meat that has been offered as sacrifice to idols? " If what we do m...

While we are considering the subject of idols, my "walking with Jesus" friend, let's have a look at Psalm 115:1-13, selected, "We give glory unto the Name of the Lord, remembering the mercy and truth of the Lord. Why do the heathen ask, where is the God of Israel? What they should realize is that OUR GOD is in the heavens, He does whatever He pleases! We see that their idols are made of silver or gold and are the work of men's hands. They have mouths, but they can not speak, eyes but they can not see. They have ears, but they do not hear, noses, but they can not smell, Hands but they handle nothing, feet but they can not walk, and with their throat they can not speak . They that make them are like them, and so is anyone who trusts in them. But the people of the Lord God who made Heaven and Earth, trust in God Almighty, for He has proven Himself. He IS their help and shield. The Lord God, our Provider will bless those who fear Him,/ show reverence to Him and honor...

My "walking with Jesus" friend, please, what do you have in your life that is: tender? Yes, if you HAVE the Ten Commandments of God, as recorded in Exodus 20:1-17, jn the Holy Bible, you DO have something: tender, in your life, because those Commandments show the Tender Love of our Heavenly Father...they are tender, because they instruct us in ways to live that bless us with goodness/with righteousness, and, therefore, with true happiness of life and joy in our hearts. In short form the Commandments read: 1 Put God first 2 Have no idols.3.Keep the name of God Holy. 4 Keep Sunday Holy. 5 Honor your Father and Mother. 6 You must not murder. 7 You must not commit adultery. 8 You must not steal. 9 You must not lie. 10. You must not covet. There you have, in condensed form, the TENDER commandments of God. So, in 1 Corinthians, chapter 8, when Paul writes about conduct in relation to idols, we realize that he is talking about a subject that is high priority with God. When somethin...

In the mighty name of Jesus, my "walking with Jesus" friend, may God bless you, and rejoice your heart with Psalm 125:1-2. "Those who trust in the LORD shall be as Mount Zion, which can not be shaken, but abides forever. We like to be informed. We often look to be inspired. We find it wise to receive expert instruction. WELCOME to verses 1-9(of 14) of Psalm 19, to: inform, inspire and instruct us in the Lord. "The heavens declare the glory of God, and the firmament shows His handiwork; day after day speaks of His glory and night after night the heavens reveal knowledge. There is no speech nor language where the "voice" of the heavens is not heard. In the heavens, God has set a tabernacle for the sun, which is, as a bridegroom coming out of his chamber, and rejoices as a mighty athlete to run a race. It's rising is from one enns of the heavens and it's circuit to the other end, and nothing is hidden from it's heat. [The awesome God who created all this has set wise instructions for people] The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul, the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple, The statutes of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart, the commandment of ...

As we "walk" our way through 1 Corinthians, my "walking with Jesus" friend, we find that all 40 verses of chapter 7 are devoted to instructions about marriage. Now, rather than go into all the details here, at this time, it seems good to summarize Paul's instructions with his statement in verse 35: "I am writing all these instructions for your benefit, not to pile on restrictions. Please understand: the main thing is: I want you to CHOOSE to do whatever will help you serve the LORD best... with as few distractions as possible." This approach to life was counselled by Jesus Christ when He said:" Seek FIRST the Kingdom of God, and His righteousness and all these <other > things shall be added unto you."( Matthew 6:33) Shall we check on ourselves? How are WE choosing OUR priorities? To respond to this text message, reply to this email or visit Google Voice. YOUR ACCOUNT HELP CENTER HELP FORUM This email was sent to you because you ind...

Yes, it's the 17th of March and tradition calls this"Saint Patrick's Day." His preaching to the fierce Druid tribes in Ireland, inspired many to turn to Christ as Savior and ked to the establishment of at least 2,000 churches according to some accounts. Do we affect the people around us? What do YOU think, my "walking with Jesus" friend? Absolutely, for sure and certain, you and I affect the people around us. In relation to the concern the Lord has for marriage, here is what Paul writes in 1 Corinthians 7:12-17, "I do not have a direct command from the Lord in the matter, but the best counsel I want to give is this: If a Believing husband has a wife who is not a believer, and she is willing to continue living with him in marriage, he must not leave her. Likewise, if a Believing woman has a husband who is an unbeliever, and he is willing to continue living with her, she must not leave him. For the Believing wife brings holiness to her marriage, so, her children have a godly influence and are set apart for the Lord. (But, if the unbelieving spouse insists on leaving, the Believer is not required to stay, because God desires that His children live in Peace.)You Believers, in your heart, as you consider your choices, reali...

Apparently the Believers in Corinth had sent questions about marriage to Paul, because, in chapter 7, he discusses a number of things about marriage. "Now, about the questions you asked in your letter. Yes, it is good to live a celebate life. But, because people tend to drift into lustful behavior that does not please God, it is best for every man to have his own wife, and every woman to have her own husband. The husband and wife belong to each other, and should always be available to each other, so that loyalty is preserved. ..To those who are not married and to widows, I say, it is better to remain unmarried, as I am, writes Paul. But if a person can not control themselves, they should go ahead and marry, rather than live a lustful lifestyle. Now, for those who are married, I have a command that comes not from me but from the Lord. A wife must not leave her husband. But, if she does leave him, let her remain single, or else return to her husband."(1 Corinthians 7:3-10)To l...

Those new sandals look comfortable, my "walking with Jesus" friend we have "walked" through all four Gospels, through the books of Acts and Galatians, and into the first of the two letters to the Believers in Corinth. The Apostle Paul has a lot on his mind. And in chapter 6, we find him expressing concern about the sensitive subject of sex. It may be helpful here to think about fire. Fire is wonderful and helpful WHEN IT IS UNDER CONTROL, when it is wisely managed. I think we would all agree about that. So, summarizing what Paul writes: Flee away from all sexual sin, brethren. It is contrary to the righteousness of God. When you accepted Christ, the Holy Spirit came to live in you also. You became A TEMPLE OF THE HOLY SPIRIT. God directs that you KEEP the temple/ your body, holy, so conduct yourselves with purity and keep the body/ the temple of the Holy Spirit , PURE. REMEMBER, your previous sins have been washed away and you have received the gift of salvation...

Good Morning my "walking with Jesus" friend. Do you have on sandals? Have you been walking where it is dusty? like the roads in Palestine when Jesus was here. What could you do to refresh dusty feet? Do you know? Jesus knew. "Jesus got up from supper, out a towel around himself, poured water into a basin and began to was the feet of the disciples. You are my master and my Lord, not a servant, that washes dusty feet, the disciple named Peter told Jesus. I will not let you wash my feet, he told Jesus, who replied,"If I do not wash your feet, you have no part of me." Peter reacted by saying, Alright, then wash my head and my hands also. Jesus told Peter, he who has washed only needs his feet washed. So, after Jesus had washed everyone's feet, He told them:"You call me Master and Lord, and that IS who I am. If I then have washed your feet, you ought to wash each other's feet. For I have given you an EXAMPLE , that you should do as I have done to you. ...
