We are in the quiet of the Mount of Olives, my "walking with Jesus" friend. (Its about two miles east of Jerusalem.)Jesus' disciples have asked about the coming end of the world. Let's listen in on more of the answers Jesus gives, as to what will happen. (Matthew 24:9- 14)"Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and you shall be hated of all nations for my name's sake. And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another. And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many. And because there shall be widespread wickedness, the love of many shall grow cold. BUT, take heart, those who ENDURE to the end SHALL BE SAVED. And this Gospel of the Kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and THEN shall the end come,' Jesus told his disciples. He also counseled them <and by extension, He counsels us > "Watch and pray." To respond to this text ...

Good Sunday morning, my "walking with Jesus" friend, how ARE you today? Let's accept the lively invitation in Psalm 95:6-7, "O come, let us worship and bow down, let us kneel before the Lord our God, our Maker, for He is our God and we are His people and the sheep of His hand." Jesus said, "My sheep hear My voice and they follow ME, and I give them Eternal Life, and no man shall pluck them out of My hand."(John 10:27) To respond to this text message, reply to this email or visit Google Voice. We are listening, my "walking with Jesus" friend to a very heavy conversation in Matthew 24:3-8. Out of Jerusalem and in the quietness of the Mount of Olives, the disciples are asking Jesus:' What shall be the sign of your coming again, and the end of the present world?' Jesus answered them and said: 'First of all, don't be deceived by others who come, falsely saying:'I am Christ.' Many people will be deceived. Don't be one of them. Also, you will hear of wars and rumors if wars: make sure YOU are not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilence, and earthquakes in diverse places. All these are just the beginning of sorrows.' " said Jesus. Yes, we are aware that 27%of the message in the Bible is prophecy, the telling of what will take place in the future. It has been said that there are more than 1,000...

Happy day-after-Thanksgiving, my "walking with Jesus" friend. Being thankful was on the mind of the writer of Psalm 103:1-12. "Bless the Lord [be thankful], O my soul, and all that is within me, bless His Holy Name. Bless the Lord, O my soul, and do not forget all the ways He has blessed you. He forgives all your sins, He heals all your diseases; He redeems your life from destruction. He crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies. He satisfies your mouth with good things; so that your youth is renewed like the eagle's. The Lord brings righteousness and judgement for all who are oppressed. He made known His ways to Moses, and His actions to the children of Israel. The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger and plentiful in mercy...He has forgiven our sins...For, as the heaven is high above the earth, so great is His mercy toward those who have awesome respect for Him/who fear Him. As far as the east is from the west, that is how far He has removed our si...

Happy Thanksgiving , my "walking with Jesus" friend, and hearty thanks to the Lord for "His goodness and His wonderful works to the children of men."(Psalm 107:8)"O give thanks to the Lord; for He is good: for His mercy endures forever."(Psalm 136:1) " Be thankful unto Him, and BLESS His name, for the Lord is good, His mercy is everlasting and His truth endures to all generations."(Psalm 100:4b&5)" I will offer to You, Lord, the sacrifice of Thanksgiving, ..."( Psalm 116:17) " Enter into His gates with thanksgiving and into His courts with praise..."(Psalm 100:4a) "Jesus took bread, and when He had given thanks, He broke it saying, 'This is my body which is broken for you. This do in remembrance of Me."(1Cor. 11:24) " Rejoice always. Pray without ceasing. Be thankful. Follow the Holy Spirit."(1 Thessalonians 5:17-19) A thankful heart harbors no anger. What did Jesus do after the intense confronting of the Pharisees and the agonizing lament over Jerusalem? What would YOU do, my "walking with Jesus" friend? Yes, they walked away from the temple. And as they walked, they talked. Matthew 24:1-2, reports:" And Jesus went out and departed from the temple, and his disciples came to him, pointing out the buildings of the temple. And Jesus said to them, we see all these buildings now, but there is coming a time when not one stone shall be left upon another, but all shall be thrown down.' And as he sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to him in private saying: Tell us, when will this happen, what will be the sign of your coming, and of the end of the world? And Jesus answered: 'Beware! Let no man deceive you. For many will claim to come in my name, saying:'I am the Christ'; and many people will be deceived." Watch out for imposters. Jesus is saying that we MUST keep your spiritual sensors care...

Jesus concludes his confrontation of the Pharisees and scribes for their hypocrisy with a great lament/ a great statement of sadness. (We are in Matthew 23:37-39) Here is what he said, my "walking with Jesus" friend. "O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you that have killed the prophets and stoned messengers God sent, how often would I have gathered your children together, even as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, BUT YOU WOULD NOT. Behold you are left without comfort < be your own actions that rejected the counsel of the Lord >. I am telling, said Jesus, from this time, you will see me no more, UNTIL you shall say:'Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.' " Are we like those who ignored the messengers of God? Or, are we like the disciples, careful to listen to the voice of the Lord, and honor His instructions? making choices that build the Kingdom of God "on earth, as it is in Heaven"? My "walking with Jesus" friend, let's remind ourselves, on this day of the great and wonderful ways God cares for us, especially when we trust in Him with all our heart. "The LORD is my Shepherd, I shall not want, He makes me lie down in green pastures, He LEADS me beside still waters. He RESTORES my soul. He LEADS me in the paths of righteousness, for His name's sake. Yes, even though I may walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for You are with me. Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies, my cup runs over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever."(Psalm 23, all 6 verses) Let's think about ALL those blessings, praise the Lord, and purpose to love Him and walk in His light, my friend. Good Sunday morning, my "walking with Jesus" friend. Shall we say, with Psalm 122: " I was glad when they said to me, Let us go unto the House of the Lord. Our feet shall stand within your gates, O Jerusalem. Jerusalem is builder as a city that is compact together. The tribes go up to her, to the testimony of Israel, to give thanks to the Lord. For there are set thrones of judgement, the thrones of the house of David. Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: they who love you, O Jerusalem, shall prosper. Peace be within your walls, and prosperity within your palaces. For my brethren and companions' sakes, I will now say, Peace be within you. Because of the House of the Lord, I will seek your good." As we pray for peace, let our hearts remember that Jesus IS the Prince of Peace, and he said:" Peace I leave with you, MY Peace I give unto you: not as the world gives. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid."(John 14:27) In the mighty name of Jes...

I think, my "walking with Jesus" friend, that we would agree: Being criticized is never comfortable. What we do with criticism shows the level of maturity of our character. Mature character does not get defensive, instead, it looks at the criticism and wisely asks: Is there any truth to the allegation? Is there something I need to correct? What is there of value to be learned by objective consideration of what has been said? Do you think there is ANY chance that any of the Pharisees were able to be that mature in dealing with the heavy...and thoroughly justified... criticisms Jesus brought against them? He was not being mean. He was trying to wake them up...to steer them away from their wrong thinking...to cause them to correct their ways. Sharp counsel from the Word of God is intended to wake us up to our sin and instruct us in RIGHTEOUSNESS. "All scripture is given by God and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction and for instruction in righteousness,...

God Almighty, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ is high and Holy. He rightly has high requirements of those who believe in Him, my "walking with Jesus" friend. And His Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, is definitely "on task" when he is pasting the Pharisees to the wall for misresenting the requirements of God and failing miserably at living what they are "teaching." Jesus is telling them: you are in big trouble with God, for your hypocrisy. In Matthew 23:33, Jesus summarizes his accusations:" O you serpents, you generation of vipers, for your terrible deeds and hypocrisy, you will not escape the damnation of hell." Yes, Jesus "tells it like it is." We are here on earth to live for the Lord. That is our purpose. We are to His Word instruct us. We are to seek and follow the guidance of His Holy Spirit. And Psalm 5:12, assures us: " For the Lord will bless the righteous; with favor He will compass him about as with a shield." To res...

Good Morning, my "walking with Jesus" friend. Do you know that the sky "talks"? Fun to think of it that way as we read:" The heavens declare the GLORY of God, yes, the firmament shows His handiwork. Day after day speaks of His glory, and night after night reveals the knowledge of Almighty God in creating the heavens. There is no speech nor language where their voice is not heard...His glory can be seen throughout the earth and sky... The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul. The testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple. The statutes of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart. The commandments of the Lord are pure, enlightening the eyes. The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever. The judgements of the Lord are true and righteous altogether...So, we pray: Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in Your Sight, O Lord, my strength and my Redeemer." We look for the Glory of God and we pray to reflec...

So numerous and troublesome are the offenses of the Pharisees, that Jesus is STILL "on their case," my "walking with Jesus" friend. In Matthew 23:23-28, Jesus says, "Woe to you scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! You are careful to pay tithe of mint, and anise, and cummin, and have ignored the mire important matters of the law and judgement: matters of mercy and faith. You are blind men. You clean the outside of the cup and plate, BUT inside, you are full of extortion and excess. You blind Pharisee, first you ought to make clean the inside of the cup and plate, then the outside will also be clean. [ and Jesus is not finished yet!]Woe to you scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! You are like tombs made attractive on the outside, but, in actuality, are full of dead men's bones and all uncleanness. That's how YOU are: fancy in the outside, wanting to appear to be good, when, really, you are full of sinfulness and hypocrisy inside!" Jesus, you see who we ...

God bless you, my "walking with Jesus" friend. Is the Master done "calling out," the Pharisees? Not yet! Listen to THIS, in Matthew 23:16-21, Jesus continued:" Your guys are blind, but making like you can see to guide others. Great sorrow awaits you for your wrong thinking. For example, you require others to aware 'by the gold in the temple.' That is ridiculous! Think about it: Which is more important: the gold, or the temple that makes the gold sacred? Your thinking is backwards. And, you tell people that to aware by the altar is NOT binding, but, to sware, 'by the gifts ON the altar' IS binding. How BLIND can you be? Think about it: which is actually MORE important, the gift on the altar or, the altar that makes the gift sacred? Actually, when you sware by the altar, you are searing by it and everything on it...And when you sware/make an oath, ' By Heaven,' you are making an oath by the throne of God and by God, who sits on the throne...

Blessings come as we follow the instructions in the Word of God, my "walking with Jesus" friend. Psalm 100, has seven action verbs. " MAKE a joyful noise to the Lord, everyone. Serve the Lord with gladness. COME before His Presence with singing. KNOW that the LIRD, He is God, it is He who has made us, and not we ourselves; we are His people and the sheep of His pasture. ENTER His gates with Thanksgiving and into His courts with praise. BE THANKFUL unto Him, and BLESS His name. For the LORD is good. His mercy is everlasting, and His truth endures to all generations." ( Psalm 100, all five verses) Lord, let our choices show Your love in our lives and Your Truth at work through us. Be with all those who need You in every way that they need You. We pray and ask in the mighty name of our Risen and coming again Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen. To respond to this text message, reply to this email or visit Google Voice. Hi, my "walking with Jesus" friend. How ARE you this morning? Are you thankful NOT to be under the scolding of Jesus, because of being a Pharisee? Is Jesus going to point out even MORE ways that they are hpocrites? Yes! Matthew 23:13-14 says: Jesus continued, saying:" Great sorrow awaits you so called teachers of the law and you Pharisees. You are such hypocrites! By what you say and by your failure to understand and do the things of God, you shut the door of the Kingdom of Heaven in people's faces. You do not go in yourselves, and you do not let others enter either. You make a big effort to persuade people to be involved in temple ceremonies and in keeping every little rule and regulation, making people feel burdened. But you do not help them in practical ways. You are such hypocrites! No wonder people get discouraged by what you say and by what you do not do." Whoa. Jesus really has it in for those Pharisees! Maybe we need to think about OUR words and actions...

You look good this morning, my "walking with Jesus" friend, praise the Lord. In Matthew 23:6-12, Jesus continues to point out bad attitudes of the religious leaders: "They like to be recognized with greetings in the marketplace. They get puffed up when men call them: oh Rabbi! Rabbi. Listen, do NOT be called Rabbi: for only One is truly your Rabbi/Teacher, even Christ; and all of you are brothers/equals. Furthermore, call no man on earth your father: for there is only One who is truly your Father, THAT is our Father in Heaven. And do not let anyone call you "Master," for only One Master is your Master, and that is Christ. But he that is greatest among you shall be your servant. And whoever shall exalt himself, shall be brought low: and he who humbles himself shall be lifted up." Jesus is teaching us to have right and appropriate attitudes toward Almighty God, and Christ, ourselves, under the Lord and ourselves as co-equal, not better than others. Thank Yo...

We see that Jesus Christ, the Son of God, IS THE super "straight-shooter, my "walking with Jesus" friend. So, if/when the words of a man do NOT match his actions, Jesus is SURE to say something. ( Yes, a person who pretends to be better than he is, or who says one thing and does another is called a hypocrite. Jesus is into exposing the truth, so, watch out, you fancy religious people: Pharisees, Saducees, Scribes and High Priests, that have been throwing questions at Jesus. Are THEY hypocrites/pretenders? Matthew 23:1-5, reports: "Then Jesus spoke to the whole multitude and to His disciples, saying, "Think about it. The scribes and the Pharisees seat themselves as followers of the law of Moses. Whatever they tell you to do to keep the law, YOU do it. But THEY do NOT do it. Don't follow THEIR example. THEY put a heavy burden on YOU to keep every little rule and regulation, but THEY do not lift a finger to follow the law. They make a big show of whatever the...

Nearly everyone is in awe of Jesus for the clear, irrefutable answers he ALWAYS gives...So, my "walking with Jesus" friend, do you think they will try more questions? Matthew 22:34-40, tells us: When Jesus had put to shame, AGAIN, the Saducees, well, a lawyer of the Pharisees (another group of fancy religious people) decided he catch Jesus. (fat chance, right?) So he asked Jesus:"Master, which is the greatest commandment in the law? Jesus answered him and said, 'You shall love the Lord your God with ALL your heart, and with ALL your soul, and with ALL your mind. THIS is the first and great commandment. And, the second is like it: you shall love your neighbor as yourself. On THESE two commandments hang/depend everything about the law and the prophets.' While they thought about his answer, Jesus asked THEM: What do you think about the Christ? Whose son is he? They said:'The son of David.' Jesus came back with:' Scripture tells us 'in spirit David c...

Good Morning, my "walking with Jesus" friend. We worked our way through Matthew 22: yesterday. With great wisdom and compassion, Jesus has been answering questions and bringing healing. Who IS this JESUS? His disciple, Simon Peter, accurately announced:" You, Jesus, ARE the Christ, the Son of the Living God."( Matthew 16:16) And, before that, at his baptism, a Voice from Heaven spoke saying:" This is my beloved Son in whom I am well pleased."(Matthew 3:17) And who does JESUS say he is? "I am the living bread that came down from Heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live forever: and the bread that I will give in my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world." (John 6:51)What difference does it make that JESUS is who he is? He tells us: " I am the Resurrection and the Life. He who BELIEVES in me, though he were dead, yet shall he LIVE, and he who lives and believes in Me shall never die."(John 11:25) "My sheep hear...

Knowing what the Word of God says, tells us how to walk in the truth, my "walking with Jesus" friend. So, the " fancy religious leaders come to Jesus with another question that they hope will trap him into saying something against their religious laws. "Master, they said, our law-giver, Moses, told us: If a man dies, having no children, his brother shall marry her and raise up seed unto his brother. Now, there were seven brothers: and the first married a wife and then died, and having no children, left his wife to his brother: likewise, also the second and the third, unto the seventh. And last of all the woman died. Therefore, in the resurrection, whose wife shall she be of the seven. For they all had her?" Well that's a heavy question, BUT, not for JESUS. Here is his reply:" You are wrong. You do not even know the Scriptures, or the power of God. The fact is, that in the resurrection they neither marry nor are given in marriage, but are as the angel...
