When we REALLY, SUPER CARE about someone, and we know that something in particular is going to happen, our heart instructs us to explain that so and such a thing WILL happen/WILL take place. Foretelling future events/ prophesying, in the Bible is the assignment of persons chosen by God to receive and report His messages. There are more than 2,000 prophecies recorded in the Bible. Some have already come true. For example, about 500 years BEFORE Jesus was born, God instructed the prophet Isaiah to tell everyone that the Redeemer WOULD come. He would come/ be born as a baby. He [would be] He would "be: wonderful, counsellor, the mighty God, the Everlasting Father, the Prince of Peace..."(Isaiah 9:6) And Jesus Christ, our Redeemer, was born into this world as a baby, and in His life, He mightily fulfilled each one of the roles that was prophesied for him. Now, as Paul draws to a close his
first letter to the Thessalonians, (1 Thes. 5:20) he cautions them:"Pay attention to prophesy. Do not dispise prophsey." It is a way that our loving and merciful God chooses to inform people of things to come. For example, Jesus himself prophesied:"I will come again, and receive you unto myself, that where I am, there YOU may be also."(John 14:3) Are WE careful to pay attention to Biblical prophesy, and conform our thoughts and actions to the requirements of God, so that WE are ready? ...for example, when Jesus comes again.
