As we all know, the average human being can walk @ 25 miles in a day...So, it took about a week for Paul and the others to walk the 170 miles from the Port of Puetoli(modern Naples) to Rome. Well, my " walking with Jesus" friend, what do you think is next for Paul? Acts 28:16, reports:" Now when we got to Rome, the Centurian delivered the prisoners to the captain of the guard; BUT, Paul was permitted to dwell by himself in a rented house, guarded by a soldier." Three days after settling into his house, "Paul called together the leaders of the Jews. And when they had come together he said to them:"Men and brethren, although I have done nothing against our people or the customs of our fathers, yet I was delivered as a prisoner from Jerusalem into the hands of the Romans. And, when they had listened to the accusations brought against me, THEY wanted to let me go free, because there was no
cause for putting me to death. But, when certain Jews spoke against letting me go, as a Roman citizen, I was compelled to appeal to Caesar."(Acts28:17-19)Will the local Jews be helpful, or hurtful to Paul?
