Back to Paul and the crowd and the Roman Commander in Acts 22. Yes, my "walking with Jesus" friend, as soon as Paul the word: "Gentiles," the crowd erupted again. So, the Roman Commander ordered his soldiers to take Paul on into the Armory and whip him to make him confess his crime. Then, maybe, throughout the commander, I will understand why the crowd was so furious. Well, as they were trying Paul down to lash him, Paul asked an office standing nearby:" Is it legal for you to whip a Roman citizens who has not even been tried?" The officer was alarmed and hurried to the Commander. " What in the world are you doing, Sir, this man is a Roman Citizen," the officer exclaimed. So, the Commander himself went over to Paul and asked:" Are you a Roman citizen?" "Yes. I am a Roman Citizen by birth. Born in Tarsus, in the Roman ruled Province of Cilicia," replied Paul. Whoa! Guess what, the
soldiers standing by to whip him disappeared, and the Commander was frightened because it was he who had ordered the whipping.(Acts 22:23-29) What will happen next? Will Paul be freed?
