We know that appropriately honoring others is a sign of noble character, so, my "walking with Jesus" friend, we find Jesus honoring John the Baptist, whose preaching in the wilderness had announced the coming of Jesus, in fulfillment of prophecy (see Isaiah 40:3). After the disciples of John went their way, Jesus began to speak of John, at first by asking questions:"What did you go out into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken in the wind? What did you go out to see? A man dressed in fancy robes? I ask again, what did you go out to see? We're you looking to see a prophet? Yes! A prophet, and, in fact, MUCH more than a prophet. For John IS the person of whom Isaiah long ago declared, 'Behold, I send my messenger before your face, he shall prepare the way before you. I tell you, Jesus continued, among those born of women, there is not a greater prophet than John the Baptist:..."(Luke
7:24-28) We love Jesus because He first loved us, and offers us Eternal Life, and exemplifies for us life lived in keeping with the commandments and complete counsel of the Lord. Let's walk in that love.
