We are back in Capernaum on the north shore of the Sea of Galilee, my "walking with Jesus friend. Here comes Jesus with His disciples. Oh my, the temple tax collectors are talking to the disciple named Peter. (The temple is the House of worship for the Jewish people. It's is theirs. WE wonder why the Jewish people are taxing THEIR OWN people for their place of worship.) "Doesn't your teacher pay the temple tax? they ask Peter. Yes, he does, replied Peter. Then, in the house, where Jesus asked:'Peter, what do you think? Do kings tax THEIR OWN people or the people they have conquered? Peter replied, 'They tax the people they have conquered. 'Well then,' said Jesus, 'Their own people should not be taxed. However, so that the temple tax collectors won't make a big deal about it, Peter, go down to the lake. Cast a line. Open the mouth of the first fish you catch. You will find a large silver
coin. Take it and pay the tax for both of us." Is Jesus advising us just to go ahead and " take care of" some things? Are some things just not worth arguing about?"As much as possible, live in peace with all people."( Romans 12:18)
