Corn! Great with a chicken BBQ, of course. Well, my " walking with Jesus" friend, in how many different ways have YOU eaten corn? I am guessing that WE never ate it the way Jesus and his disciples ate corn one sabbath day(the Jewish day of worship). In Matthew 12:1-8, it is recorded that: While walking through a field of corn, the disciples were picking the ears and eating the corn. Well, strict Jewish religious laws forbid anyone from working on the Sabbath, and picking corn was considered working...so the Pharisees questioned Jesus. Why are you and your disciples breaking the religious law? Jesus replied: My men were hungry, so they picked the corn to eat. You guys need to realize that I am Lord of the Sabbath, and that the Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath. In other words, the Spirit of the Lord and meeting the legitimate needs of men, should be the basis of decisions
about the Sabbath, and NOT restrictive religious laws. "Where the Spirit of the Lord is, THERE is true liberty." (2 Corinthians 3:17) May the Spirit of the Lord be with us.
